Leadership: Speak Life

As we celebrate the holidays, let’s continue our focus on the family.  Today, I have another little story to share with you…

My two year old came up to me this morning.  She leaned in with her little face, looked me in the eyes and whispered, “I love everything about you.”

It made me smile, because I have been saying this to her for many months now.  Throughout her life, there are things I want her to learn and understand…

Unconditional – I love her… completely.

Never Too Much – I tell her… over and over and over again.

Solid Ground – There will be many “other” challenges in life. Success begins at home.

Correction and Direction – We will work together to shape appropriate behaviors.

Create the Cycle – So often we try to break the cycle of previous mistakes. We need to find opportunities to “create the cycle.”

Speak Life – You have great power and influence… speak life into those you lead.

What little things do you say to speak life into those your love and lead?

    Doyle,
First off, congratulations on your little “Miracle”!

Also, if all fathers took the time, not only to plan the way to raise good and happy children as you did here, but also to put it into action…the World would be a completely different (better) place. Thanks for the inspirational story and Happy New Year to you and your family.

What a great thing you share! One thing I’ve done for quite sometime now is every morning before I leave, I write my 5 year old son and 4 year old daughter a brief note to tell them how much I love them and to make it a great day! We can never forget to show the people we care about whether home or work, that we truly do care about how they impact our lives.
